This is a wonderful little machine for those of you who love lemonade. It's is so much better than trying to squeeze them by hand. With about 6 lemons you can have a large pitcher of lemonade.

When I first saw this I couldn't wait to buy one. Then after reading some of the reviews I became a bit hesitant. But the urge became overwhelming and I ordered it. My first delight came from the service I got from Amazon, even though I ordered regular shipping it arrived the next day! Within the hour I'd made my first batch of lemonade. It was a breeze and kind of fun. Yes, one must be careful about the steam but if you follow the directions this a handy gadget to have around. I've been drinking a whole lot more lemonade, it has made this heat wave almost bearable. If you even think you might like this, I recommend buying it.

What better way to kick off summer than to review lemonade? Lemonade is the juice of the Gods. Did you ever wonder what God's intention for lemons were when he created them? Think about it. When God invented lemons did he do so because he thought humans would have no problem peeling a lemon and sucking the bitter sweet juice STRAIGHT from a lemon? Or did he create lemons because he knew people would be intelligent enough to mix lemons with water to have ourselves a refreshing drink? They say you should never assume (and that includes Gods) so I don't know WHAT to think.

What I DO know is that lemonade exists and I can't believe how happy I am about it. Just a few seconds ago I was drinking lemonade and feeling satisfied.

What we have here is a lemonade maker thing. You should just ignore products like this. It's just ANOTHER thing to put SOMEWHERE in your kitchen, so when you need something important you have to push this lemonade maker to the side. Just another thing in the way. That is SO annoying. The less stuff in your kitchen, the easier it will be to find important things.

What I'm trying to say is that you can make your own lemonade by using your imagination. The best way to make lemonade is to take masking tape and a butcher knife, and then tape the knife to the middle of a cereal bowl (with the sharp end of the knife standing straight up). Take a lemon (it doesn't matter if you peel it or not) and keep twisting the lemon on top of the knife, and as you continue doing this, the lemon juice will drip into the bowl. Just be careful not to cut yourself. Twist with caution. If you don't take your time lemon juice will squirt all over the place, including in your eye (and you know how much that stings).

Then, when all the juice has left the lemon, pour the lemon juice from inside the bowl into a glass. Then pour a cup of water in the glass. Stir, and drink. Very nice. Very simple, too. I just saved you some money.

This is a poorly designed lemonade maker. The plastic construction is flimsy.
When you apply pressure to juice the lemon, you feel like the plastic is going to crack.

Making lemonade should be an easy, enjoyable process. But this machine makes it a lot more trouble than it has to be. You have to put sugar in a separate reserve, add water into another reserve, and the steam comes out of the top, so it can get kind of hot. Because the water is heated to melt the sugar, you'll have to use ALOT of ice to cool it down in order to drink. Then you have to disassemble the top to wash out the sugar, pulp & seeds.

I cannot believe Salton released this product to be sold. It is a completely unnecessary contraption. I would recommend buying a simple, smaller juice extractor for squeezing the lemons instead. You can melt sugar with hot water in a separate cup and just add cold water. Trust me, it'll save u money, time and counter space!

I have to admit that this was an impulse buy.... BUT a good one for sure! I was hesitant at first because of some of the "less than favourable" things some reviewers had written, but decided to go ahead and try it, knowing I could return it to Amazon if I had problems.

It has arrived and I must admit, it is complicated at first to figure out... what goes where and how to do it... BUT, after the first batch, I was an ole pro.... (do you think I can have my own lemonade stand now?)

One half - one cup of sugar.... NO WAY enough. I made it with the 6 lemons and one cup and 3/4 to 2 cups of sugar. I dont think you can do more sugar than that because there is not enough room in the reservoir. Jug: WAY TOO HEAVY and bulky with all the ice to use...so we had to put into another container, which was messy BUT again, by the second batch...yep, you guessed it; an ole pro:)

The lemonade is amazing. It tastes as good as your lemons are. Buy bright yellow lemons that have a good even texture and nice and firm. Old lemons that are shrivelled up or pock marked just wont cut it. The only down fall of course is that lemons are costly... I buy mine at the farmers market at low cost, but they are only there part of the year. So it may be too expensive to make later in the season.

My question is.... is this a novelty item I will continue to use or will I tire of it and be reselling it on ebay at the end of the summer?

Enjoy......

I've read other reviews and thought that I'd give it a shot. I was quite impressed, overall. I didn't get burned with hot steam like others claimed, but I was extra careful. My unit fit together nicely and worked perfectly out of the box. I followed the recipes, and it seemed to work well. The one thing I will say (and it's a biggie) is that the pitcher is designed VERY poorly. The pouring spout wasn't made large enough, so A LOT of the finished lemonade will spill out when pouring.
I've tried pouring the contents from the included pitcher into a larger pitcher (with a better spout) and it's worked nicely. I still will get some spillage, but it's better than using the included pitcher and a tall glass.
Overall, the unit does what it claims to and the taste is pretty good!

...because if you follow the instructions it does what they say it will do... and NO juice concentrate in the world known to me equals the sublime taste of a good fresh lemon or limeade!
It is quite true that it isn't made of 18-10 precision crafted stainless steel, but then neither is the price all that much to spend on a new toy for the kitchen. It behooves one to take note of the 'mistakes' that people have mentioned they've made, all new products take a bit getting used too. It'll take you making a batch a couple times to get the hang of it and get the number of fruit you want to use adjusted to your own taste... well, not all lemons or limes, etc., are of the same size anyway, eh? We have a diabetic in the family so we use Splenda instead of sugar and that works OK, too... though you may occasionally have a bit of white 'residue' to dig out of the sugar compartment. It's really no big deal, and the thing isn't hard to keep clean. It's true that when the Lemonader finishes its job the pitcher is full almost to the brim, so we just dump it right into a larger pitcher... hehe... people can find the darnedest thangs to complain about. It's a neat deal and the first time we used it we used it again that very first day... because we drank up that first 2.5 quarts just THAT fast. :)

I can't say enough about this silly thing. Bulky? Yes. An eyesore? Yes. Loud? Yes. All of these things and more.... BUT... oh what fun! I use this at least twice a week as it is such a blast. The Lemonader uses steam to turn the sugar you put into the top chamber into a syrup so it mixes well with the juices. The citrus juicer is a bit noisey but gets the job done quickly. I would agree with previous reviewers that the pitcher is poorly designed and would also like to add that the steam can be a bit dangerous for small children so its not really a family project. If your family loves orange/lime/lemonades, this machine will make making them happy a delight.

My husband bought this for me and I love it. It's easy to use and not difficult to clean up. I had to play with the recipes to get the juice just right but now that's I've got it we love it.

I hate stupid kitchen gadgets but I love my Lemonader! Everyone who's sick and tired of lemonade from a can or a powder raise their hand and then get one of these machines. You may have to play around with the recipes a bit before getting it just right for your personal taste, but that's part of the fun. It assembles easily and cleans up easily too. I prefer to transfer the finished lemonade into a different pitcher for storage in the fridge. For the money, it's a great little kitchen machine and the salton consumer relations department has been stellar in helping me replace a part that I lost. They're friendly and easy to deal with...kind of like the machine itself. Feel like having a bit of summer year 'round? Nothing like a fresh glass of lemonade to do that!
