Customer Buzz
Last night I tried to juice a lime and not a single drop came out! I am finally giving up and admitting this item is worthless for juicing. It does look cute on the countertop though.

Customer Buzz
Metrokane Mighty OJ - Manual Citrus Juicer - Chrome Juice PressI could not "bottom out" the 1/2 orange to extract the juice, therefore leaving 1/2 the juice in the orange. The lever is not well positioned requiring an awkward position of my hand to get enough pressure on the orange to squeeze it. A great disappointment.

Customer Buzz
I liked the look of this item and bought it to squeeze oranges and pomegranates. I used it two times -- on the second time the lower part that holds the orange bent. It is still usable but you should use your weak arm to press juice with this. It's not built for a full squeeze.

Customer Buzz
I use to own the "old time" juicer that looks like this but was manufactured in the "50's or 60's. Now that was a juicer. This juicer is poorly engineered, poorly made and a complete waste of money. Anyone who rates this high has never used a good juicer. I'm going to find an "old time" one at a yard sale or flea market. I recommend you stay away from this product.

Customer Buzz
As juicers go, this one is a winner. You'd be hard "pressed" to find a better model. I'm a little confused by the other reviewers comment about low juice yield, as you'll definitely get a lot more juice than if you use a hand press model. You'll also walk away without completely sticky fingers, which is always nice.

As long as you're using plump and juicy fruit, you'll get great juice from this model. I also like that it's Metrokane, as I've yet to be disappointed by one of their products (and I've had the opportunity to use a few).

Metrokane Mighty OJ Manual Juice Squeezer, Black/Chrome

Product Description

Give your honey a squeeze in the morning—of fresh orange juice, that is. The Mighty OJ, the original citrus juicer, features a classic 1950s design that is not only easier to use and to clean than today's electric juicers, but delivers a sweeter juice. Simply place half an orange (or other citrus) on the raised cone. Then push down on the lever, leveraging up to 600 lbs. of pressure. Best of all, this black-and-chrome model is all metal, with a powerful gear system for an easy squeeze. Imported. 7-1/2H"

Customer Buzz
I brought OrangeX made in iron and stainless steel... After few uses the small washer fell off. I tried to contact their customer service either the line is busy or is answering machine and sent e-mail I've never get any answer. Now when I tried to use the juicer, the top of press will crook to the left, does not match to the bottom of the stainless steel part. They have 7 years garantee for what?

Customer Buzz
This juicer works well enough, but I started noticing metal shavings in the juice and under the juicer. I'm not fond of ingesting metal shavings so I plan to contact the company and demand an explanation and a refund. I do NOT recommend buying this item until this problem is resolved.

Metrokane Mighty OJ Citrus Juicer, White with Chrome Head and Handle

Product Description

This best-selling model in the metrokane Mighty OJ line up features a white baked enamel finish on the base and a snappy chrome top and handle. In fact it's such a marvel of good looks married to superlative performance, many of these have found permanent homes in museums around the world.

Customer Buzz
I was excited to find one of these juicers but was quickly dissapointed the first time I used it. It's too small for most oranges and it only extracts a small amount of the juice from the orange. The unit is unsteady and can easily tip over. It tends to squirt juice out the sides which will soil your kitchen and clothes. It's a poorly made Chinese product complete with rough edges and soft metal. I wish I had read the reviews here before buying one. It's a lot of work and mess for very little juice. Maybe it would work better for lemons.

I have a Black and Decker electric juicer from Wal-Mart for which I paid about $12. It works great and extracts nearly every drop of orange juice that's practical. It cleans easily and extracts far more juice than the Mighty OJ with much less work.

Customer Buzz
I bought this because it looked like the old Juice King which works very well. This one does not have the leverage to squeeze the citrus and get the jucie out. It is too small for most oranges. I went back to my old hand twist juicer. It did clean up better than the Juice King.

Customer Buzz
I bought this on sale at crate and barrel a month ago so that my kids could make their own OJ. My 5 year old loves it and makes juice for the whole family 3 times per week. We use clementines, blood oranges and small juicing oranges and it appears to be plenty strong and sturdy. The juice is mighty sweet and delicious, after reading other reviews we happily avoid those big fibrous oranges. It's perfect for our family needs.

Customer Buzz
It is a fine inexspensive juicer. Its short coming is that its great for small oranges (lemon size) not normal sized. It tend to juice the center leaving the edges unsqueezed. Needs a larger basket.

Customer Buzz
This juicer looks cool and sleek and oh so chic. Using it is another matter. First, as many other reviewers have mentioned, it really can't extract the juice from anything other than a small orange, a lime, or a small lemon. The next problem is that once you've squeezed your 8 oranges to get a glassful, and you remove the glass, it continues to drip on the counter. Finally, cleaning the thing completely is pretty-near impossible - you end up with bits of orange inside, outside, in the gear mechanism, etc. So while I love to look at it, I can't recommend that anyone else spend their money on it.

Customer Buzz
It's true that this juicer works best with small oranges, as it won't get all the juice out of the bigger ones, and they might not even fit in the space provided to press them.
But with the right size oranges, it works very well, and extract all the juice. I've been using it a lot this winter for fresh orange juice full of vitamins!

Customer Buzz
This dreadful little machine is too small to juice a medium to large orange. It will juice a small Valencia, but not very effectively. I would love to have my money back or even 1/2 my money back.
Don't buy this "juicer."

Metrokane Mighty OJ Manual Juice Squeezer, Chrome

Product Description

Top of the line polished chrome exterior finish makes the Mighty OJ retro-style juicer a true "Original". Cone and funnel are polished stainless steel. International Design Award Winner at the Frankfurt Fair, this chic and functional juicer is designed to look great on any bar or countertop. Easier to use and clean than electric juicers, it's a must for anyone who demands the ultimate in freshness.

Customer Buzz
How disappointing. The problem with this juicer is that it does not squeeze the fruit completely, not even 75% I would say. Like some other reviewers said, it leaves a rim of unsqueezed pulp around the edges of oranges -- it does the same for limes. Even after reading some of the other reviews I had some hope that it would still work for limes, which we use most often. Alas, not. If you still insist on buying one of these lame juicers, I have since found them at Crateandbarrel for 39.95 -- their description touts the "museum-quality design", but tellingly says little about performance. Better to find something else.

Customer Buzz
I have now owned two of these juicers. Both have broken (the handle gets off-kilter and gradually disassembles itself; the head of the juicer cracks and eventually breaks from the stem). My first one lasted two years so I bought another when that broke. The second one is less than a year old; the head attachment is cracked and ready to break; the handle once again is gradually disintegrating. In addition, the second one is much more shoddy than the first; the 'cup' in the top does not fit cleanly into its seating. I will not buy a third and I strongly advise against purchasing this product.

Customer Buzz
We received this as a gift just when our old electric one had bitten the dust. I was excited to have a durable product. But within a week my husband insisted that we replace this with another electric citrus juicer (we make oj every morning). Here are my pros and cons:
Pro:
Squeezes lemons just fine and requires less cleaning for a little bit of lemon juice than the electric one.
Cons:
Doesn't get out all the juice--we had to use 1.5 times the number of oranges as with the electric citrus juicer.
Big oranges or grapefruits don't fit.
Requires a lot of force--my hand and shoulder were extremely sore after I used this the first time.
Not very stable, you have to be careful not to let it fall over.

We kept it for the occasional lemon squeezing, since the store it is from is an hour and a half from us. But we bought an electric citrus juicer.

Customer Buzz
No matter how hard you press, it is impossible to get all the juice out of your citrus. Early on I learned to accept the face that even small limes and lemons would have moisture left in the rind. Even with mild to light usage, the juicer broke two of its tines after just two years - making the whole thing useless.

Customer Buzz
This is really a quite awful and useless product. I used a restaurant-grade juicer for many years, and when it died, I went looking for another. I made the mistake of buying this product.

It does not do a good job. I had been spoiled by the old juicer, just cut in half, place on the juicer and pull the handle (maybe push a second time). And done. With this product, you do that, and you have to repeat, over and over and over, and still you have not extracted the juice. There is no leverage, no clearance, not enough height between the top (the operative part) and the fruit. It is not hard to clean, just clunky and noisy and I know I am cleaning something that was just totally useless.

I find myself squeezing juice by hand, every morning, rather than approach this thing. The reason: I get a lot more juice by hand than by using this critter. My dislike for this product borders on personal. :)

Does anyone know where I might find an old restaurant/bar-type juice squeezer?

Customer Buzz
The cone and funnel parts are made of aluminum and will eventually discolor. I shouldn't have put them in the dishwasher, I know, but they turned black and began turning my lime juice gray. I pitched the whole machine.

Customer Buzz
Although I ordered the juicer in the color black, I received the product in white. If not for the color I would have purchased it locally. After approximately 6 months of satisfactory occasional use the juicer is no longer functional. Some of the teeth on the gear that is connected to the press lever have broken off. I had expected a product this simple would have lasted for years. I am obviously totally disappointed.

Customer Buzz
First, this product did succeed in producing awesome tasting orange juice and made us lifelong converts to fresh-squeezed juice.
But, it's sized so only small oranges are efficiently juiced. Larger ones cause the juicer cup to overflow, and a rim around the edge goes unsqueezed (wasted).
Finally, despite the "800 pounds of pressure" claim, our gear mechanism broke after, say 200 oranges were squeezed. It's ironic, because the rest of the machine is bomb-proof heavy metal, but the gear wheel is some cheap-o alloy that split in half!
We just purchased an OrangeX Express and hope for better luck.

Customer Buzz
If you're looking for an orange juicer that will look great on your cabinet, then this might be the one. But if you're looking for a juicer that's user friendly and efficient, you might want to look somewhere else (like Metrokane's Chef's Juicer). When I bought the Mighty OJ, I noticed problems right off the bat. In the first place, it's hard to get an orange in this thing. There's barely enough clearance. So, if the orange is big, you have to sort of wedge it into the juicer. Then, the handle is short, so it's hard to get a good grip on it. If you don't hold down the left side of the juicer, it'll tip over when you press the lever down and spill juice everywhere. Also, with large oranges, this juicer won't remove all the juice. It will leave a ring of the juicy part of the orange just inside the peel. If you make orange juice once a week, these things might not bother you. If you make juice every day, they could be pretty annoying.

Customer Buzz
I bought one of these to see if it really was better than the super cheapo electric juicer I've been using for about three months. (It's one with the spinning squeezie cone...) The first time I tried the Mighty OJ, I didn't think to hold on to the machine, and it slipped, spilling OJ and peel bits everywhere, while falling on my hand, bruising up my fingers pretty badly.
OK... my fault. I tried again... and found that it just really doesn't handle normal sized oranges (about a big as a child's fist) very well. For something bigger than a lemon, it only squeezes the middle, and leaves a ring of unsquashed, messy orange on the outside. BUT, you can see that where it does squeeze the orange, it gets EVERY little bit of juice out! So... after mutilating about four oranges, and throwing about a third of each in the trash, I took a sip.
It's really the best dang juice I ever tasted. I was amazed at how much better the juice tasted than the juice I squeezed out of the same batch of oranges with my electric doodad.
So... I guess I'll buy little dinky oranges from now on... :)
